Bernard Gantner is a French painter, etcher, engraver, lithographer and illustrator born in Belfort in 1928.
He is known for his winter landscapes of great density and poetic force. His drawings, captured in direct contact with nature, are the source of most of his works. He is an accomplished artist of international renown.
After having lived on the shores of Lake Geneva, he returned to his native region where he devoted his time to his art, his museum, as well as to the embellishment of the surrounding gardens which he transformed and designed.
He finds his inspiration in the landscapes that surround him, constantly chasing snow, water and vegetation in all its forms and in all seasons, preferring old snow-covered farms against a backdrop of fir trees in the Vosges and Haute-Savoie.
