"17th Century Italian Alabaster, After The Antique "fedelino" Or "spinario""
Beautiful sculpture in Italian alabaster (probably TRAPANI) from the 17th century, after the antique bronze "Spinario" (the thorn shooter) or "Fedelino", kept in the Capitoline Museum in Rome, itself inspired by Greek statuary . This work was one of the most admired of the Renaissance and the following centuries, giving rise to the production of numerous copies in bronze, marble, or alabaster like our example, intended for European aristocratic collections. Beautiful patina, very satisfactory condition, with just to report a restoration at the level of the head and the right leg (reglued). Height: 22cm
