Object description :

"Semainier Secretaire In Precious Wood, Napoleon III Period - Mid-19th Century"
Magnificent piece of furniture from the Napoleon III period, from a Parisian cabinetmaking workshop of the 19th century, topped with white Carrara marble matching the curve of the front and sides. This secretary is composed in the upper part of a flap simulating 3 drawers and four drawers of the same dimensions. The drawers are slightly curved on the front and underlined by sculpted bronze strips. On the front, they are made of rosewood in the center arranged in four sheets, with a light wood fillet around the perimeter and a large rosewood surround. Each drawer has bronze entries and original locks accompanied by their key, in working order. The opening of the flap reveals a tabernacle in speckled maple, composed of two niches and two small drawers with thuja front and rosewood buttons. The speckled tinted maple seat is darkened with red leather in perfect condition, enriched with a golden sticker, corner patterns and a harmonious central ornament. The front and sides of this secretary have many bronze fittings. Rounded rosewood veneer legs accent high and low falls. The sides are slightly curved towards the back and we find in the center an important four leaves in rosewood with a rosewood surround. This piece of furniture rests on a projecting base dressed in scalloped bronze. The upper part of the cabinet ends in a diminutive groove with rosewood veneer, bronze rod around its perimeter, and bronze fittings on the angles. In its projecting top is an important gadrooned bronze molding. At each corner, we find a bronze drop and in the middle an intertwined pattern. Graceful and elegant, this Napoleon III secretary from the 19th century will delight you with the finesse of its ornamentation. ******** Period: Mid-19th century Excellent interior and exterior condition.
