"Pair Of Japanese Prints, Around 1850, 19th Century, Edo Period (1603-1898)."
We present a pair of Japanese prints dating from the middle of the 19th century, around 1850 belonging to the Edo movement (1603-1868). They represent courtesans revealing their sumptuous traditional costumes as well as an attention to detail and a beautiful palette of colors. These prints are from the Ukiyo-e movement, a Japanese artistic movement from the Edo period (1603-1868) including not only popular and original narrative painting, but also and above all Japanese woodcut prints. the themes of ukiyo-e are also quite new, as they correspond to the centers of interest of the bourgeoisie: pretty women and famous oiran (courtesans), shunga (erotic scenes), kabuki theater and sumo wrestlers, yokai (fantastic creatures), as well as the spectacle of nature and meisho-e (famous places). Private collection. In perfect condition. Dimensions: Frame: h.48 cm x l.36 cm. Print: h.35 cm x w.24.5 cm.
