Pair of bronze sculptures after Jean De Bologne "Fortune and Mercury" forming candlesticks.
Fortune, goddess of luck, and Mercury, god of commerce in Roman mythology.
The bronzes are presented on a cylindrical base in the form of a fluted column.

This pair brings together the famous model of Mercury made by Jean de Bologne for the Medici family in Florence in 1564 and the model of La Fortune, created by Louis-Guillaume Fulconis. After training at the School of Fine Arts in Avignon, the latter participated in the Paris Salon from 1857 to 1872.
