Oil on canvas painting from the early 19th century, first empire restoration, representing the portrait of the muse Erato. Muse of lyrical and exotic poetry, she is represented with a lyre in her hand or a small cythera. Very nice sensual painting presenting the model in an unusual position and evoking a lyrical and evocative flight. Note the excellent state of conservation of the whole, with its original gilded wooden frame, and the quality of the colors which have remained very vivid.
