On the basin, we distinguish a hunting scene where in a wooded landscape, a wild boar is attacked by 3 hunters, including one on horseback, helped by hunting dogs. This composition is inspired by an engraving made in 1598 by Antonio Tempesta, a Florentine painter and engraver who had a considerable influence on 17th century art. This engraving, visible in our photo gallery, is kept at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
On the wing, we find a decoration of flowers, birds, insects and small houses.
This dish was made around 1660. Diameter 56.5 cm.
Provenance: Collection Comtesse Michel de Loisy
Condition: A crack and a chip taken up by a professional workshop. Two grip holes. A scratch on the heel.
