Pierre Damien, born in 1824 in Saint-Germain-d'Arcé near Tours, was a pupil of Jean-Marie Bonnassieux in Paris. He spent most of his career in Tours, where today there is a street named after him. The cathedral and churches of Tours have many works by his hand.
