Phryne revealing herself before her judges is a legendary scene originating in Greek antiquity and having inspired many painters and sculptors of the 19th century. Bronze statue from the early 20th century (old cast iron) edited from the work created in 1893 by the sculptor Pierre Campagne. Beautiful condition, nuanced green-brown patina with little visible wear. Signature on the base. Pierre Etienne Daniel Campagne was born in Gontaud-de-Nogaret (Lot et Garonne) trained by Alexandre Falguière, he is a member of the Society of French Artists, his participation in the Salon began in 1889.
