The box is oval in shape, in silver and vermeil.
The base and the lid are decorated with friezes of silver palmettes.
The box is in plain vermeil.
The lid, decorated with quartefeuilles and offcuts, is adorned with a superb enamelled medallion, probably on copper, with a romantic decor.
It represents a couple of shepherds in love with an antique fountain, a symbol of hidden love; a bouquet of flowers including roses; a dog, a symbol of loyalty; a lamb, a symbol of purity and innocence; etc
This medallion is very finely executed, the line is clean and precise, all the details are faithfully represented and the colors are bright and shimmering. This is high quality work.
This enamel is enhanced by a large and magnificent 18k gold frame consisting of a ribbon wrapped around a plain strapping.
The interior is vermeil.
The box is stamped:
. Minerve 1st title before 1973 for silver 950/°°
. Silversmith's mark badly struck to identify: ?R with an amphora
I did not find a hallmark on the gold strapping but it was tested with a touchstone.
Very nice quality box, the silver walls are thick with a frank and marked decoration of quality. The enamelled medallion is of great beauty by its great finesse, all sublimated by this wide gold strapping.

Very good state. A tiny friction in the medallion, to the right of the young woman's face, in the blue of the sky. Micro scratches from use.
