IVANOVSKY (Elisabeth) - “Pomme d'Api” collection.
Sl (Printed in Belgium), Editions des Artistes, sd (ca. 1944-46), 24 vol. in-18 (approximately 85 x 65 mm, vol. 1 & 5 being noticeably smaller), paperbacks under cover illustrated in color, of (12) pp. per flight. (covers included).
Very good overall condition.
First edition of this complete set of small works intended for early childhood, designed and illustrated by Elisabeth Ivanovsky.
The first 18 booklets are accompanied by a small box made up of a cardboard folder covered with yellow paper, illustrated label, titled "Pomme d'Api Collection", glued to the back, cardboard box covered with the same paper.
Was the collection planned to have only 18 fascicles?
Still, 6 other titles will be released shortly after, these must not have been commercially successful and are very rare.
The volumes contained in the box are: 1. Saint Nicolas - 2. Can you count? - 3. The hare has ears - 4. Who stole the nest? - 5. A hen on a wall - 6. Poor fly - 7. Christmas - 8. I know my ABC - 9. The little hunter has a good heart - 10. And me to run away - 11. The Princess of Roses - 12. Let's sing together - 13. Riddles - 14. Easter bells - 15. Jean de la Lune - 16. The charcoal burner is king at home -17. Saint George and the dragon - 18. The lark and the finch
The volumes published later are: 19. The short straw - 20. The monkey and the wild cat - 21. In the blue country of the stars - 22. The legend of the great Saint Hubert - 23. Jack of Hearts - 24. The Upside Down World.
Our box is too tight to contain the first 18 booklets without compromising their extraction, booklets 17 and 18 are therefore to be placed outside with booklets 19 to 24.
