Antoine Wiertz, born in Dinant on February 22, 1806 and died on June 18, 1865 in his studio on rue Vautier in Brussels, was a Belgian painter, sculptor and lithographer. A marginal and extraordinary artist, he was nicknamed "the philosopher with a brush".
