Rare small chest, southern Alsace - Rhine Valley - Renaissance decoration of a palace facade and architecture, typical of these regions during the Renaissance, The technique used here is that of intarsia developed in Italy, in particular on the woodwork of the studiolos, from the quattrocento. The cabinetmakers of the time were only beginning to use perspective and this atmosphere invites them to enter the decor. Beautiful hinges in wrought iron, engraved with foliage, they are tinned, which gives them this silver color, clamp lock. The lid has a handle also engraved with small patterns, and allowed to manipulate the chest to put it on a table.
