"Tea Service - Limoges - Pouyat Brand - XIXth Century."
Exceptional service marked POUYAT in polychrome and gold LIMOGES porcelain, "balloon" model. The "balloon" shape is characterized by a handle imitating two parallel bamboo branches which are tied at the top of the curve of the handle to separate at the collar attachment. The grip of the lids is of the same shape. This service is, moreover, richly decorated with garlands of flowers and foliage of great finesse and a very fine quality gold thread. Mark in green on the reverse of all the pieces: JP L corresponding to the period of production of the POUYAT factory between 1870 and 1890. The "balloon" model is referenced in the work of Mrs. Chantal MESLIN-PERRIER, curator of the LIMOGES museum entitled “THE POUYAT PORCELAIN MANUFACTURE”. This mark in chrome green with a thin stamp was used on the reverse of all the pieces presented at the 1878 exhibition. Complete service comprising 12 cups and their saucers, 1 jug, 1 milk jug and 1 covered sugar bowl. The set is in perfect condition. Late 19th century.
