"Large Shawl In Orange Woolen Cloth Embroidered Golden Blades - Ottoman Empire Late 19th Century"
Late 19th century Ottoman Empire Interesting stole or portière shawl in orange-dyed wool and embroidered with golden metal blades. Center in seedlings of stylized flowers. Decor of foliage in floral arabesques in one of the ends. Very sophisticated reversible embroidery with openwork. Some variations in color of the vegetable dye, otherwise no defect. Very good condition of color and conservation. Dimensions: Length 288 cm Width 134 cm Fringes 2cm The vegetable dye of the wool before embroidery has some slight variations in color which gives a lot of charm and authenticity to this piece. Rustic and refined at the same time. Heavy piece due to the weight of the golden flat wire. Very soft and supple to the touch. Two or three tiny holes on the edge. Otherwise fabric and embroidery in perfect condition.
