A symbolist artist, Edmond Aman Jean was also very close to Georges Seurat, with whom he shared a strong interest in chromatic theories and divisionism, which would later lead to pointillism.
This double influence (symbolist and divisionist) is particularly evident in our print.
This print was published in L'Estampe moderne, a French monthly publication edited between 1897 and 1899 that offered original lithographs in each of its issues.
These prints are identified by a dry stamp representing a stylized child's head with messy hair.
On our print, the latter is present in the margin (but not visible on the framed work because it is hidden by the passe-partout).
Signature in the plate, on the lower right part.
Very good condition, all margins.
It is sold with a new frame made to measure.
