The impressionist scene of the bustling Naples market with a distant view of Vesuvius was executed at the turn of the 20th century by the very famous Neapolitan painter Oskar Ricciardi (1864 Naples - 1935 ibidem). He was popular among collectors for his Neapolitan street and coast scenes and exhibited regularly in Naples, Palermo, Milan, Turin.
