The central motif, with small juxtaposed floral medallions, pale blue, ivory, yellow and midnight blue is very elegant and ends with two large finely drawn pendants.
The medallion represents a large stylized blooming flower, accompanied by other numerous flowers and tracery covering the field.
The flowers encountered are roses, the lotus, but also the pistachio flower, white, a tree very present in Iran.
The decor is rich and abundant, flowers, branches, palms and stylized palmettes flood the carpet with a beautiful symmetry but without stifling this precious decor placed on a most delicate orange-red (my favorite color)
The refined border, composed of varied patterns , palmettes and alternating branches on a midnight blue background.
This style of border is inspired by the old and precious models of Herat.
The whole of this piece is in very good condition, the velvet clean, the edges impeccable, the fringes, they remain short.
The general condition is very good, there is no pile reduction, the fine kork wool used is of first quality.
The numerous colors are fresh and relatively soft, of high quality, without loss of tint and not stained, they set the tone for a timeless Persian rug style, in the five-hundred-year-old tradition of this type of rug.
This beautiful, almost ancient rug originates from Persia in Iran and was knotted in the second half of the 20th century.
Kashan (Kachan, Keshan): large city in central Iran.
During the Persian Renaissance, Kashan was the center of carpet production of legendary splendor. Carpets with fine weaving, of a very great richness of composition, were knotted by the royal factory of the Shah Abbas.
They have become the centerpieces of museums and private collections.
Craftsmanship was interrupted in Kashan between the invasion of the Afghans (1722) and the end of the 19th century.
The revival of rug production began with rugs that are distinguished by the superior quality of the wool giving an extremely velvety appearance.
These examples are called Kashan Motashemi, named after the most famous master weaver of the late 19th century.
The decorations are varied and offer meticulous craftsmanship: hunting scenes, figures inspired by Persian mythology, birds in a plant decor, trees of life.
Thanks to the superior quality of the wool, their tight knotting, the beauty of their natural colors and designs, the Kashan took their place among the best Persian rugs.
This rug has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
