"Restoration Period Commode In Flamed Mahogany, Mercury Gilt Bronzes & Turquin Blue Marble"
Beautiful chest of drawers in flamed mahogany from Cuba and rich fittings of chiseled bronze and gilded with mercury. Topped with turquin blue marble, it rests on ball feet, with rounded uprights. It opens with 5 drawers, one on the belt, 3 large drawers, and a secret drawer hidden in the plinth. Very beautiful trim of finely chiseled and gilded bronzes, typical of the Empire style with motifs of palmettes, quivers, arrows, cupids and the god Neptune in the angles. Reason rarer and of great originality: top drawer is decorated with a cartouche decorated with a hive and bees. Empire style from the Restoration period, 1820s. The very high quality of this table in the use of luxury materials, including the impeccable assemblies, the case unevenly mounted on a beautiful blond oak with regular grain, the very beautiful trim of chiseled and gilded bronzes, luxury marble are undeniably the signature of one of the greatest Parisian cabinetmaking workshops, very probably the house of Jacob or one of its equivalents in collaboration with one of the greatest bronziers such as Thomire. Beautiful amateur model, in very good condition. The French polish has been redone in the traditional way by our cabinetmaker. The gilding of the bronzes is superb, the marble is intact and the original key is still there. Our chest of drawers has passed through the last 200 years in one go and thus comes to us renovated with the brilliance of its original new condition. Width: 130.5cm Height: 97.5cm Depth: 66cm
