Object description :

"Okimono - Daikoku With A Group Of Figures, Japan, Meiji Era (1868-1912)"

Large okimono representing one of the seven lucky gods: Daikoku with other characters. Daikoku, god of prosperity, good fortune and protector of the hearth, sits on barrels and holds a magic hammer - uchide-no-kozuchi - and a mouse - symbol of abundance - is visible at his feet. The sculpture was made by a Japanese artist who showed imagination and great attention to detail.

Marine ivory (walrus), carved, engraved, colored.

Japan, Meiji era (1868-1912). Signature on the bottom.

Height 29.5cm.

Preserved condition as seen in the photographs, good, however a figure is missing on the top.

In accordance with the Washington Convention (CITES), the object is allowed to be traded due to its time of creation.
