"Piet Lazen : "the Sorcerer""
Piet Lazen (20th century): “The sorcerer”, oil on panel with thin metallic film 46 X 55 cm mounted in a painted wooden frame 59 X 68 cm. Autographed and dated 78 on the back. This is the first time I have seen this technique! Certainly to give more luminosity to his painting, the artist used a panel covered with a thin metallic film that can be seen on the scratches of the character in the background and on the edge. Seated in front of his fireplace where a cauldron containing who knows what mixture is boiling, a character wearing a colander is surrounded by a host of details: a toad consulting a grimoire a character contemplating his reflection behind a screen, syringe, etc... Is it a sorcerer or a madman who believes he is a sorcerer? Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or telephone.
