* Suzanne Douly, born in Lyon on January 13, 1905, died on June 12, 1974, was a French ceramist, known as an artist under her married name, Suzanne Ramié. She opened her own workshop in Vallauris in 1939, the Madoura workshop, an acronym made up of the first letters of the words maison, Douly and Ramié. She is also known for her artistic ties with Picasso, whom she welcomed into her studio in 1946 and to whom she taught the art of enamel and clay firing.
