"Candlestick Or Wall Reliquary In Bronze. Decoration Of A Double-headed Eagle. Serbia, Russia Or Germany."
Bronze wall lamp with an arm supporting a cup. Candlestick, night light or reliquary. Hammered bronze sheet metal, cast and riveted bronze details. In the center a crowned double-headed Golden Eagle, cast in bronze, on the chiseled pediment in repoussé a radiant shell surrounded by 2 hearts. Some parts are maintained by screws and nuts filed by hand with care. The set has a beautiful old patina. The presence of the double-headed eagle suggests that it is a wall lamp from Russia or Germany, but perhaps also from Serbia or Austria. The wall lamp is not flat but slightly curved to be positioned on a concave section of wall, such as that of a tower or a church niche. The 2 side columns are reminiscent of the 17th century. 335x195x160mm
