Exceptional and Rare Renaissance style Sterling Silver Oval Platter / Tray with spectacular decor of an applied Mascaron to one end, and a Lion's Head on the other. Applied medallions simulating cut leather enhanced with applied interlaced monograms decorate both sides. Very finely crafted from the highest quality silver, this piece is punched with the Mercury 1st standard silver hallmark (.950) for French pieces intended for export, the hallmark known as "Rabbit's Head" applied on its return to France, mark of the Master Goldsmith Gustave LEROY (mark with the initials "LC & Cie" and a royal crown ) received in 1896 with deletion in 1897, and bears the Signature of Jeweler and Goldsmith "J. PIAULT" (Jules Piault). This exceptional and rare large antique French sterling silver oval platter, with spectacular Renaissance style decor, is in excellent condition as it was revised and cleaned by our Parisian Goldsmith, just micro-scratches from use to note. Designed and crafted for the finest of tables....
