This sculpture probably depicts a Chinese Taoist deity, possibly the legendary Nezha. The figure is dressed in elegant robes and appears to have the somewhat menacing face of a warrior guardian. The sculpture is in polychrome wood with inlaid eyes.

China/Vietnam, 19th century. Height: 50.5cm. Base: 21x20cm.

Good state of preservation, visible loss of polychromy. The figure originally held an object in his right hand, possibly a sword or spear.
