"Bronze “the Virgin Mary”, J. Bulio – 19th Century"
Bronze bust with medal patina representing the Virgin Mary on a pedestal, sculpted by Jean Bulio (1827-1911) in the 19th century. Bulio joined the fine arts and exhibited at the Salon in 1859, he obtained honorable mention in 1882 and 1886. The Madonna is represented in contemplation, her eyes turned towards the sky. Her face with delicate features is highlighted by the veil that covers her head and shoulders. The drape is finely chiselled. On his chest is carved an inflamed heart, the Sacred Heart. This symbol, dear to Christians, shines with divine light and bleeds with the blood of Christ.
