"Charles Forgelot : Antique Empire Style Sterling Silver Teapot - Swans, Eagle C.1900"
Spectacular large French Empire style Sterling Silver Teapot. The pot is raised on three elegant arching legs with claw feet with mounts representing
Swans with outspread wings. A magnificent central frieze encircles the body where we find as a reminder the Swans resting on leafy garland suspended from florets. Friezes of water leaves and pearls adorn this piece, which features a magnificent Eagle Head spout. Blackened wooden handle is most likely ebony. Very finely vrafted from the highest quality silver, it is punched with the French Minerve 1st standard (
.950) silver hallmark; and mark of the master Goldsmith
Charles FORGELOT (Hallmark with his initials "CF" and a portable forge) active in
1901. This spectacular large, yet very elegant, Empire style teapot is in very good condition and was revised and cleaned by our Parisian Goldsmith, just micro-scratches from use to note. A pure marvel to discover through the attached photos ...
