Miniature And Silver Frame, Late Nineteenth Century.

This adorable little miniature is painted in oil on cardboard. The young woman represented is delicately painted, her head is elegant and, her neck and shoulders emerge from a vaporous background, the artist has given her a serene and pensive expression borrowed from softness, her opulent hair raised on the top of the head is held by a large blue knot. This small portrait is preserved in a silver frame which opens on the reverse, it is surmounted by a knot and bordered on the circumference of Rhine stones, it is provided on the back of the knot with a ring and it must have originally had a small foot which allowed it to be posed. A diamond-shaped maker's mark appears on the back but we could not decipher it. Missing a small stone at the top. Late 19th century. Dimensions: height 7.2 cm, width 5 cm.
