George Barbier created the costumes for the play Casanova by Maurice Rostand, performed at the Bouffes-Parisiens theater on February 22, 1919.
Lucien Vogel, the editor of the Gazette du Bon Ton, published a collection of 24 plates of these costumes in 1921, in a very limited edition and extremely rare these days.
This stencil is plate 8 of this collection.
