"Barbotine Lamps With Impressionist Decor."
A few major centers produced these so-called "Impressionist" ceramics Haviland, Montigny sur Loing and Gien are among them, the pair of lamps that we are offering probably come from one of these factories, but it is very difficult to attribute them to one or the other with certainty, they can nevertheless be the work of Dominique Grenet who worked for these manufactures. The belly is delicately painted with slip with a decoration of flowers full of poetry which stands out against a luminous sky blue background, the bronze frame illustrates the taste for Japaneseism of this second half of the 19th century. This pair of lamps has been electrically mounted. Period around 1880. Height with lampshade 59 cm, height of the lamp alone 33 cm.
