"Jurisdiction Of Aix - Draguignan - Hand Candlestick - Sterling Silver Master Silversmith Paul Tournel"
Resting on a small circular bate, hand candlestick, united, in solid silver by the goldsmith Paul Tournel received master in Draguignan around 1788. He apprenticed with Joseph Etienne Manuel received in 1745 in Draguignan. The hollow top is edged with a hemmed underlined with a fine net. It supports a baluster binet, the neckline with nets. (a thin bead on the latter at a quarter of its height and diameter, a small knock on the edge). (see photos including the first). The annular handle is formed by a thumb rest in the shape of an elongated spatula. Diameter -diameter; 10.8cm. / 4. 25 in Length - lenght: 19.5 cm. / 7. 68 cm Solid silver weight - sterling Silver weight: 156 gr. Hallmarks on the reverse, hallmark of the goldsmith Paul Tournel, crowned PT initials. Discharge from the jurisdiction of Aix for 1781-1789 Mc de Draguignan. 1788-? (an ear of wheat). The same hallmark exists from 1785 to the Revolution.
