Splendid representation of Saint Catherine of Siena. Catherine of Siena, born Catherine Benincasa on March 25, 1347 in Siena, Tuscany, and died on April 29, 1380 at the age of 33 in Rome, was a Dominican tertiary and an Italian mystic who exercised great influence in the Catholic Church. She is declared a saint and a doctor of the church. (see Wikipedia). Our painting from the beginning of the 17th Century is painted on two joined boards. Oak wood, Flemish school. some very small gaps, mainly at the junction of the two panels. No wear, the paint is in very good general condition. Beautiful dimensions in a beautiful old gilded wooden frame. 74 cm x 58 cm The painting alone, 65 cm x 49.5 cm.
