"Germany, Bather Around 1900 By Jindrich Janus"
Very beautiful late 19th/early 20th century pastel depicting a bather getting out of the bath by Jindrich JANUS (1867-1944). The work measures 45 x 54 cm (52.5 x 62.5 cm with its period frame) and is signed lower right. The artist is quite mysterious; it is apparently about a German artist but I did not find any biographical element. One of his paintings is nevertheless kept in the collection of the National Museum of Modern Art, on deposit at the Franco-American Museum of Blérancourt, and had been acquired by the French State in 1927. The colors are very fresh; there are some small foxing, strongly accentuated by the photographs and very little visible in reality. Free delivery in Paris possible.
