"Pair Of Chairs Say "à La Reine" Louis XV Period, XVIII Eme, High Back Chairs 1730-1740"
Sumptuous pair of Louis XV period chairs, called "à la reine", circa 1730-1740. These chairs are a very rare model of high-backed seats still reminiscent of the Regency style with their opulent proportions. We have also voluntarily presented one of these chairs in photo number 11 positioned next to an armchair called "à la reine" from the same period in order to illustrate our point about the unusual dimensions of these exceptional seats. Our chairs are in molded beech richly carved with leaf motifs and vegetal windings. The shell feet are topped with acanthus leaves. These seats are in very good house condition. Presence of old traces of xylophages without incidence and common on this type of furniture. Usual restorations have obviously been carried out: some grafts and finger joints are to be noted (see photo 9 in particular). Stable structure, beautiful dark patina, waxed finish. The covering fabric is in very well-made Genoa velvet, in soft pink tones. Comfortable and soft seat thanks to the presence of cushions.
