Marcel Roy (20th century): “A passage through Algiers”, watercolor 50 X 34 cm mounted on a cardboard 63 X 47 cm. Also known for his activities as a poet, the artist was born in Algiers and spent most of his life there, nevertheless exhibiting at the Salon since 1934. He was painted by Bascoulès, another Algiers painter in a representation full of kindness a little Bohemia. Here, he captured a moment when, just after a downpour that left puddles between the cobblestones, a ray illumined the facades of houses in the medina.
