"Marius Gueit (1877-1956) Landscape Of The Dordogne Valley, Oil On Panel"
Marius Gueit (1877-1956), a native of Bordeaux, was a pupil of Louis Augin and Louis Cabié, renowned landscape painters. In love with his region, he proposed many works representing the landscapes of the Landes and the Bassin d'Arcachon and their pine forests, but also landscapes of the Dordogne and the Lot. This is the case of the oil on panel that we offer and which surely represents a landscape of the Dordogne valley (?) with in the foreground a stone road that runs along a dry stone wall that holds a few vines, in the background a house with a steep roof typical of these regions. The painter contemplates this landscape and invites us to discover the village below with its pointed roofs and opposite the cliffs which rise above the valley very beautiful panorama captured with a beautiful mastery of colors and light effects, work of invoice post-impressionist Oil on panel in good condition signed lower right M.
