Child's bust by Carl Angst and Paul Jeanneney, signed Angst et Jeanneney, dated 1909.

This child's bust is the result of a collaboration between Swiss sculptor Carl Angst and ceramist Paul Jeanneney.
Carl Angst studied at the Ecole des Arts Industriels in Geneva, then moved to Paris to work with Jean Dampt. Strongly influenced by Rodin, he was made a life member of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts.
A native of Strasbourg, Paul Jeannneney graduated from the Ecole Centrale des Arts et Manufactures in Paris in 1885. He met Jean Carriès, who had a major influence on his work. In 1898, he moved to the Château de Montrivaux, near Saint-Amand-en Puisaye, which became the center of the Carriès school. He notably collaborated with Séraphin Soudbinine and Auguste Rodin.
