"Pendulum In Bronze And Marble, Louis XVI Style, Napoleon III Period - Mid-19th Century"
Sub-rectangular stepped pendulum, with wire movement, in bronze with double patina dating from the middle of the 19th century This gilt bronze pendulum is delicately chiselled with foliage, acanthus leaves, pearls and garlands. It is crowned with a bronze sculpture, with brown patina, depicting two children, in a semi-recumbent position, browsing a work. The boy seems to have a protective gaze on the young girl at his side, while the latter covers her arm with a drape while continuing to read. The dial, surrounded by pearls, is graduated with blue Roman numerals for the hours, and black Arabic numerals for the minutes. The facade with foliage motifs is openwork and reveals a white marble, identical to that on which this timepiece is fixed. The set rests on four beaded and striated top feet. This clock, guardian of time for a century and a half, will please you with its elegance and the contrast of its patinas. ******** Period: Mid-twentieth Clock in excellent condition.
