H. 10 ; L 6 cm
A carved and articulated wooden toy depicting a waiter or a man eating. He is dressed in a kimono and holds a dish and bottle in each of his hands. His eyes are two small inlaid bone beads, and the lower part of his body is enclosed in a wooden base with two-tone chequerboard marquetry. One side is fitted with a thumbwheel for animating the figurine. Its arms, head and mouth are articulated.
This automaton is reminiscent of the folk art of the city of Kobe.
