Baptismal Fonts With Rich Decors - XVIth
In two parts, our baptismal font is made of limestone. It is richly carved and delicately polychromed. The baluster base is carved with tracery and cherub heads. The tank, in reference to the figure of Christ, is octagonal as it should be.
Its edges are decorated with a fine cord and several applique figures in high relief representing, Saint Joseph carrying a lily, the Virgin with her hands crossed on her chest, the dove of the Holy Spirit, a shell and finally, the 'Lamb lying on the book with seven seals.
A beautiful balanced piece from the end of the 16th century.
