Valentine de Laborde comes from a family of politicians, bankers and financiers. She married in 1824 Gabriel Delessert, banker and prefect. She was famous for having been the mistress of Prosper Mérimée then of Maxime du Camp. She held a Literary Salon where Musset, Delacroix, Chateaubriand thronged... She had a great influence at the Court of Napoleon III.
