"Character Composition Finn Pedersen Cobra 1977"
Finn Pedersen was a Danish artist born in 1944 on the island of Bornhol, he died in 2014. He was a painter. At the age of twenty, he came into contact with abstract art through many artists. He held his first exhibition in 1965. A year later, he participated in a group exhibition at the Court Gallery in Copenhagen. Asger Jorn, Karel Appel, Carl Henning Pedersen and a number of other COBRA artists also exhibit here. With powerful movements, he applies the paint to the canvas. He uses the spatula, his fingers or lets the contents of the tube flow onto the canvas in thick jets. Pedersen intertwines the colors, letting them twist and challenge each other. This creates unexpected and mysterious new connections. It is of the utmost importance to this artist that each color remains clear and pure. It shouldn't be complicated. There is therefore rarely a mixture of colors. For Pedersen, each color is pretty enough on its own. The colors should complement each other. They need to give themselves new energy. Just like the individual sounds in a melody where each tone plays its own important role. Pedersen's paintings are recognizable and mysterious. The piece was part of the Cobra et après exhibition in 2016-2017 Au grand Curtius label on the back.
