Elegant Louis XV style basin in polished hard stone from Hauteville (Ain), in the shape of a kidney, carved in the 19th century. Originally set in the niche of an entrance hall of a bourgeois house in the Saône valley. These washbasins were said to be "refreshing sinks" and in the 18th century fitted many entrances to apartments in Lyons, the city was far from being clean and the sciences had denounced dirtiness as the first factor of illness. The dimensions of its basin are 61 cm long and 42 cm deep and those of the body (niche space) are 115 cm long and 54 cm deep. It can be cut to the right laterally on request.
