Circular box in brown tortoishell. The removable lid is decorated with an enamelled medallion. The medallion depicts youngs people dressed in the antique on a landscaped background and Roman ruins. The couple, whose young wife is crowned with a crown of roses, approaches an altar. The base of the altar is decorated with a medallion representing a quiver and a torch symbols of Love and Hymen. The symbols used in this composition show the sentimental nature of the box. A yellow gold mounting embellished with an interlaced motif frames the box and a central, oval medallion.. A second frame of gold interlacing girdles this charming composition. Louis XVI period. Circa: 1780-1790.
