His work spans architecture, urban planning, furniture and industrial design.
Bellini was born in Milan in 1935. He graduated in architecture from Milan's
University of Milan in 1959. Shortly afterwards, he became director of La Rinascente, a popular chain of department stores in Italy. In 1963, he was hired by the Olivetti technology company as chief consultant. On
same year, he set up the design company Studio Bellini in Milan with his business partner
Marco Romano.
Although Bellini's designs were less iconoclastic than those of his postmodern contemporaries, they were no less innovative and characterized by technically complex forms. His designs include Amanta Chair (1966) and Le Bambole Sofa (1972) for B&B italia.
