"Batak Lime Box, Sumatra. Indonesia"
Lime box used by the Batak populations of Sumatra for the consumption of betel.The long container, carved from a buffalo horn, is closed at its base by a thin wooden plate.
Its small wooden stopper has fine engraved leaf decorations.
Good condition, normal wear on the top of the cap.
Early 20th century, Sumatra, Indonesia.
