Jean-Louis Mendrisse is the painter's son and sculptor Jean Mosnier.
Born in Clermont Ferrand in 1955, he devoted himself to painting from an early age, learning alongside his father. He exhibited his first works in his studio in Montmartre in 1977 and has not left the capital since. Following in his father's footsteps, Jean-Louis Mendrisse is acclaimed by European galleries and has been exhibited in Luxembourg, France and the Netherlands.
The melancholy that emanates from his work invites introspection, and it is a celebration of life: "Painting elevates me, it allows me to extract myself and reach a higher reality, to connect to the invisible, to something beyond us". His works are mysterious, dreamlike, sometimes on a colored background, sometimes on a white background. If the feminine is his favorite subject, he never tells the same story. His muses are sometimes hesitant, other times pensive or provocative, and always sweet or melancholy...
