"Painting By Paul Chocarne Moreau (1855-1930) "free Trade""
Superb and rare painting representing little children at heart exchanging food or even called free exchange. This famous painting painted by Paul CHOCARNE MOREAU was presented at the Salon of French Artists in Paris in 1913 and reproduced in the illustrated catalog page 127, but also in the supplement to the Political and Literary annals of May 4, 1913. Painter already famous in his time, he was raised by William BOUGEREAU and Tony ROBERT FLEURY, a very talented portrait painter, often painted children and scenes of Parisian life . The theme of the child in the 19th century is often treated by realist painters in a hard or miserable elf vision, whereas CHOCARNE prefers the mischief and laughing eyes of children. He began at the Salon of French Artists in 1882 and exhibited there regularly thereafter. Our painting is therefore presented in 1913 as also evidenced by the two engravings attached in photos. He will obtain a bronze medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1889. Bibliography: catalog of the salon of the society of French artists of 1913 reproduced on page 126, under number 411.
