Object description :

"Box Of Nuns - Nineteenth"
Usually the boxes of nuns represent the cloistered universe in its most awaited definition by the collective imagination, namely, a bare cell of a convent. They invite the outside world to contemplate religious life.
Here our large wooden box is glazed. It contains a miniaturized scene, but it represents a nun outdoors.
Standing in front of a chapel painted in oil, proudly wearing her cornette, she holds a medal in her hands.
This scene is in medallion in a brass inlaid frame with solid colors, according to the Boulle style in vogue in the 1870s.

Dimensions of 48 cm by 48 and 15 cm deep
Good condition but note some gaps.
A beautiful object of popular devotion.
