extremely rare pair of cornucopia lamps by Gio PONTI, produced by Christofle under the name "étains de Carville", it is therefore the first edition of 1928. Original electrified lamps, with two cornucopias intertwined around an arrow, on a circular "Carville tin" base. this model was designed in 1928 and presented for the first time at the Venice Biennale the same year. these lamps are marketed in the pewter collection of Carville created by Christofle in 1927 for Christian Fjerdingstad, other famous artists then created models like GIO PONTI this brand closed in 1930 the model was then integrated into the Gallia / Christofle collection. the two lamps bear the rectangular hallmark of Carville pewter followed by the number 170. The two lamps are electrically mounted from the factory (electricity to be provided) one of the two arrowheads is missing.
